Dental Emergencies and New Patients
We have long held a great reputation for looking after patients with dental emergencies in the borough. We can even offer emergency appointments for new patients. If you, or a visiting friend or relation, needs urgent dental treatment, we can usually see you on the day, or almost always within 24 hours.
The practice is open every day, including Saturday and Sunday mornings, offering a true seven days a week service.
Our friendly dentists enjoy meeting new patients, and we welcome all patients from their first tooth to beyond their last!

Our receptionists are very welcoming and we provide a comfortable seating area with magazines to read whilst you wait.
If you are anxious patients, we can arrange for you to be seen promptly and offer the first appointment of the day to make you feel at ease.
We will not tell you off, if you have not seen a dentist for a long time because we understand work and life can get in the way!
Private & Denplan patients:
Private patients have access to earliest appointment of the day starting at 8.15, weekend appointments and emergency slots on a daily basis.
NHS patients:
Occasionally we are able to welcome new NHS patients to register, especially children, for whom we set aside time after school and in the holidays, however this does depend on NHS funding and regulations.
Please be aware that there is no longer ‘registration’ on the NHS except whilst actually within a course of treatment. This is a change the NHS made back in 2006 to help increase access.
Sadly this means that there is no automatic ‘right’ of access to NHS care, even for patients who have been previously seen under the NHS, it depends entirely on availability.
It is the patients responsibility to ensure that they book at the recommended recall interval and maintain their appointments. Failure to attend an NHS appointment may mean we are unable to offer a replacement.
We will always endeavour to prioritise children, the vulnerable and those in pain for the limited amount of NHS provision that we do have.
For non-exempt patients, payments for NHS dentistry are divided into 3 bands, for exempt patients, please remember to bring your exemption certificate.
What to expect on your first visit
After booking an appointment with us you will receive an email with some important registration forms to fill in. Please follow the instructions in the email.
For those patients who do not use email, please arrive 15 minutes early to your appointment in order to fill in those forms with a team member, please bring prescription list any other relevant documents.
A discussion with the dentist about any concerns you have about your teeth or your oral health.
A thorough examination will be carried out assessing:
- Jaw joint; clicks or tenderness
- Mouth cancer screening and soft tissue checks. We screen for signs of mouth cancer and other diseases of the soft tissues of your mouth (tongue, cheeks, lips, palate and floor of mouth)
- Teeth and fillings
- Tooth wear
Gum health; Basic periodontal score to measure the presence of inflammation, mobility of teeth and plaque amount.
X-Rays to assess the presence of decay, bone support levels and investigate any issues raised.
Assess the condition of crowns, bridges, veneers and any existing dentures.
Treatment planning to discuss routine treatment needed, cosmetic treatments you desire or we believe would enhance your smile.
At the end, a recall interval would be provided on how often you should return and whether hygiene appointments are necessary.
